My other main hobby was cars and motorbikes. I started working in a Rolls Royce garage in the school holidays, during this time I met some great characters and learnt a great deal.
Eventually I decided to build my own car, I saw a photo of a Dax Tojeiro (Cobra Replica) on a Kit Car magazine and instantly decided that was exactly the car I wanted.
Four years later I had the car on the road, it passed all tests first time and won 6 awards at the first custom car show that we took it to.
We really enjoyed our time with the cobra and made some wonderful friends, but sadly after seventeen years it had to go before we could move to Canada. It went to Belgium and I never heard any more about the car. The photo below was taken a few days after the car was finished.
My main hobby has always been Photography, this led to my 35 year career as a print retoucher in the UK.
I first bought a camera when I was about 11 years old, my inquisitive mind soon took me into the depths of the darkroom and developing and printing my own images. Fast forward a couple of decades to the beginning of the computer age and I quickly adapted to digital image manipulation long before most people had heard of Photoshop.
Now I can't imagine being without a good DSLR and Photoshop. There are endless opportunities and producing a good print is much less messy than it used to be.
I'm lucky to live in an amazing part of the world, nature photography is becoming more appealing by the day.
